3 Chicago Blackhawks' Trade Candidates After Taylor Hall Dealt
The Chicago Blackhawks are open for business. GM Kyle Davidson got invovled in a three-team blockbuster deal on Friday, moving Taylor Hall to the Carolina Hurricanes, while taking on half of the remaining salary on Mikko Rantanen. Davidson is expected to be busy before the March 7 deadline, as this won't be all the action out of the windy city.
Here's three Blackhawks who could be next to be traded:
Ryan Donato
Donato is receiving a ton of trade interest. The versatile forward can play anywhere in the middle-six of a lineup, and at just $2 million against the cap and no trade protection, the chances of the pending free agent being shipped out are huge. Donato has 14 goals and 14 assists in 46 games, and was recently named on the Daily Faceoff's trade targets list. Insider Frank Seravalli feels Donato could be exactly the 'quiet' addition a contender could use. "He’s been impactful and competitive and someone both coaching staffs in Chicago have relied upon in the midst of a career year. Donato is also relatively inexpensive and could be a quality under-the-radar addition."
Seth Jones
The Blackhawks will surely have to retain some of Jones' remaining salary, but there's been a ton of speculation brewing that teams have called Chicago to see how creative they want to be moving Jones. The right-handed defenseman is having a decent season, posting 20 points in 31 games. He's signed through the 2029-30 season at $9.5 million AAV, and does hold a no-movement clause. With the Blackhawks behind schedule on their rebuild, it begs the question if Jones would be open to being traded to a contender.
Pat Maroon
The veteran power forward has plenty of Stanley Cups on his mantle, but that doesn't mean he won't be going after another one this spring. Maroon is a pending free agent, who can still play a role on a fourth line for a contending team. He's owed just $1.3 million against the cap, and has two goals, 11 points in 43 games this season.
