3 Philadelphia Flyers' Trade Candidates After Frost, Farabee Dealt
The Philadelphia Flyers have made a significant trade with the Calgary Flames, moving both Joel Farabee and Morgan Frost out west, for Andrei Kuzmenko and Jakob Pelletier, as well as two draft picks, including a 2025 second-round pick. Turns out GM Daniel Briere isn't finished just yet.
According to several trade rumors, the Flyers are a team to watch heading into March 7th trade deadline. They've managed to move Farabee's expensive ticket off their books, and now the attention turns to which other Flyers could be traded. Here's three players to watch ahead of the trade deadline:
Scott Laughton
There's been a ton of interest in Laughton this season, as contending teams see him as the perfect 3C, or shut-down center. Laughton's been with the Flyers for over a decade, originally a 2012 first-round pick. So far this season, Laughton has recorded 10 goals and 25 points in 50 games. He doesn't have any trade protection, and is signed through next season at $3 million against the cap. Keep an eye on the Maple Leafs and Golden Knights.
Rasmus Ristolainen
The lanky right-handed defenseman has been linked to several trade rumors this season, and appears to be on his way out of Philly before the March 7 trade deadline. Ristolainen carries a $5.1-million AAV through the 2026-27 season, and at 30 years old, it's pretty clear he's a second-pair shut-down defender at this point. Ristolainen has recorded two goals and 15 points in 53 games this season. Daily Faceoff's Matt Larkin linked the blueliner to the eight destinations just a couple of weeks ago, highlighted by the Maple Leafs, Red Wings and Stars.
Jamie Drysdale
Moving top prospect Cutter Gauthier for Drysdale was a bold move, that hasn't necessarily paid off. Drysdale has been very inconsistent for the Flyers, going through some serious growing pains under John Tortorella, who isn't a huge fan of Drysdale's decision making with the puck. At 22 years old, there's plenty of untapped potential and still lots of trade value to consider for Briere to navigate. Drysdale's recorded just 11 points in 41 games this season, while seeing over 19 minutes per game, including 2:30 a night on the power play.
