3 Potential Trade Destinations for Maple Leafs' Nick Robertson
The Toronto Maple Leafs are open to making deals prior to the deadline March 7, and one player who could be moved is young forward Nick Robertson.
Robertson had asked for a trade last summer, but management convinced him to stay, only to watch his inconsistent performance throughout the season. Robertson has been in and out of the lineup, playing mostly on the third line, and so far in 42 games, has scored eight times and recorded just 12 points.
The Leafs are looking to find a depth center and another top-four defenseman, with Robertson likely to be a part of one of their trade packages. Here's where Robertson could end up:
San Jose Sharks
The Sharks and Leafs have completed a trade already this season, seeing Timothy Liljegren and Matt Benning switch teams. Now, Robertson could be next. The Leafs are reportedly interested in Luke Kunin and Jake Walman from the Sharks, and with a rebuilding team in San Jose, adding the 23-year-old Robertson, who is a California native, could make sense for both sides.
Anaheim Ducks
The Leafs have been linked to Mason McTavish from the Ducks, and if the deal transpires, Robertson would surely be a part of the trade. The Ducks are rebuilding, they are in need of offensive threats, and Robertson could provide that in spades, with his elite shot. His defensive play is another story, but it's hard to deny the Ducks and Leafs make sense as trade partners this season.
Nashville Predators
The Maple Leafs may try to circle back on Luke Schenn and Ryan O'Reilly, so if they do, a package will need to go to Nashville, and Robertson would very likely be included. Toronto is in the market for a 3C and another defenseman, so the Preds, who have struggled this season, could be the perfect trade partners for Leafs' GM Brad Treliving.
