3 Potential Trade Destinations For Canadiens' David Savard

Montreal Canadiens defenseman David Savard is one of the top trade candidates in the league as we get closer to the 2025 NHL Trade Deadline. The pending unrestricted free agent should get plenty of attention from playoff clubs looking to improve the right sides of their defense. Let's look at three clubs who could target him because of it.

Winnipeg Jets

The Jets could be a prime team to watch when it comes to Savard. They could undoubtedly use a solid stay-at-home right-shot defenseman, and Savard would give them just that. He also does not have any trade protection, so he would be an easy player for them to bring in for their bottom pairing and penalty kill.

Edmonton Oilers

The Oilers are another clear potential landing spot for Savard. They need to improve the right side of their defense, and bringing in an experienced defender like Savard could make sense for them because of it. He would be a solid addition to their second or third pairing if acquired.

Dallas Stars

The Stars are another team that could make sense for Savard. They have missed Chris Tanev this season immensely, and bringing in a fellow right-shot defensive defenseman like Savard could help lessen the sting. He also has plenty of playoff experience, so that could make him appealing to a true contender like Dallas.
