4 New York Rangers Labeled As Most Likely Trade Candidates By Deadline

The New York Rangers have already made two trades this season, sending out captain Jacob Trouba and former No. 2 overall selection Kaapo Kakko. So who's next on the firing line?

Insider Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff has named the four most likely Rangers to be trade fodder by the March 7th deadline, as part of his latest Top 25 Trade Board, just released today.

And no, he does not have the names Chris Kreider or Mika Zibanejad on his list, despite their very notable presence on the rumor mill of late. Here's who Seravalli planted on his trade candidates list, and where on the rankings they placed:

# 4 Ryan Lindgren, D

The left-shot D-man is not having a very good season, and is in the negative in plus/minus (-3) for the first time in his career since becoming a regular on the Rangers blueline in 2019-20. He was a +93 in the previous five seasons. But he is on a one-year expiring contract, which he signed as an RFA last summer when GM Chris Drury declined to go long-term with him. He's almost a sure-fire bet to be dealt.

#17 Will Borgen, D

It's been a short ride so far on Broadway for Borgen, who was only brought in in the Kakko trade on Dec. 18th. He's also a pending UFA, and, although he's played fairly well, as Seravalli says, "the Rangers aren't married to him."

 #20 Zac Jones, D

Jones has been a healthy scratch going back six games to before Christmas. The Rangers have given him permission to seek a trade. He's an RFA at season's end.

#24 K'Andre Miller, D

You may have noticed a trend by this point: all four of the Rangers on this list are defensemen. Even the promising young Miller is not exempt from the troubles on the Blueshirts' blueline this season—in fact, his performance for most of the season was central in those issues. He also finds himself with a minus rating (-6) for the first time in his 5-year career. But at 6'5", 215 pounds, there are plenty of teams who would be itching to get him into their systems.
