Avalanche Rumors: Colorado Linked To Canucks' J.T. Miller

J.T. Miller's name continues to surface in trade rumors as the Vancouver Canucks face a tumultous season and explore potential roster changes.

Among the teams linked to the veteran forward are the Colorado Avalanche, who have been looking for a solution to bolster their center depth since losing Nazem Kadri.

According to CHEK’s Rick Dhaliwal, the Avalanche were serious contenders for Miller at the 2023 trade deadline but backed out when the Canucks requested a package built around defenseman Bowen Byram and forward Alex Newhook.

“The Canucks asked for a package that centered around Bowen Byram and Alex Newhook. The Avalanche said no,” Dhaliwal explained on Donnie & Dhali

Both Byram and Newhook have since been traded to other teams.

The Avalanche's interest in Miller remains relevant, as their need for secondary scoring and a top-tier second-line center persists.

With Gabriel Landeskog still sidelined and only a handful of forwards exceeding 17 points midway through the season, Miller's offensive consistency could provide an immediate boost.

While a trade involving Miller would likely involve significant assets and navigating his no-movement clause, the Avalanche could still emerge as a suitor if Vancouver revisits the idea of trading within the Western Conference.

The Canucks reportedly haven’t ruled out such deals, though they might demand a premium for a move to a conference rival.
