Blackhawks’ Lukas Reichel Becoming Trade Candidate
Chicago Blackhawks forward Lukas Reichel got back into the lineup this week for a game after a series of healthy scratches dating back to 2024 (Dec. 31st). And don't think other teams around the league haven't noticed Reichel's apparent falling out of favor in the Windy City.
Speaking to Bob Stauffer on Oilers Now, insider Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff says Reichel has now surprisingly become a trade candidate.
I think the Hawks are starting to get some calls on Reichel from around the league, as he's been a healthy scratch at times. They've put him in a lot of positions to succeed, (and) it hasn't clicked on a consistent basis.
Now, getting some calls on a player doesn't necessarily mean that a team has given up on said player, but when the Hawks pick up that phone, you never know what kind of offer they might hear on the other end of the line.
Reichel, 22, was a first-round pick of Chicago in the 2020 Draft (17th overall), and after showing some promise in his first real taste of NHL action in 2022-23, recording 15 points in 23 games while averaging 16:22 of ice time, he struggled mightily in his first full season last year with just 16 points in 65 games with a plus/minus rating of -29.
This season, in his 35 games largely on the fourth line, he has just three goals and 11 points with a minus-7, while averaging just 12:25 TOI.
He has plenty of speed and is "an intriguing piece" for rival teams to look at, as Seravalli notes.
The Hawks have a couple of veterans who they'd be much more likely to part with by the trade deadline, like Taylor Hall and Ryan Donato, who both hold prominent spots on Seravalli's Trade Board released this past week.
