Blue Jackets Rumors: Columbus Linked To Canucks' Elias Pettersson

The Columbus Blue Jackets have been linked to Vancouver Canucks center Elias Pettersson, according to Aaron Portzline of The Athletic

Reports are the Canucks are listening to offers for both Pettersson and J.T. Miller, fueling speculation about potential interest from Columbus.

The internet buzz suggested that a Pettersson trade has been discussed with the Blue Jackets, but a team source told The Athletic on Friday that no such trade talks have taken place,” Portzline wrote.

Blue Jackets General Manager Don Waddell, known for exploring high-profile moves, previously discussed Pettersson during his time with the Carolina Hurricanes, but there’s no indication a deal is imminent.

Columbus has bolstered its center depth with the acquisition of Sean Monahan and the strong emergence of rookie Adam Fantilli, who has taken on a top-line role during Monahan’s injury absence.

Fantilli, thriving alongside Dmitri Voronkov and Kirill Marchenko, has impressed with clutch contributions, including a game-tying power-play goal in a win over Pittsburgh.

Given Fantilli’s rapid development, the Blue Jackets may be reluctant to pursue a blockbuster trade if Vancouver were to demand him as part of a return for Pettersson.

While Waddell’s history suggests he is open to improving the roster under the right circumstances, the Blue Jackets are focused on sustaining their playoff push without major overhauls.

Riding a four-game win streak, Columbus faces a demanding stretch of seven games in 12 days, and the team’s current trajectory could shape its approach to the trade deadline.

For now, any move involving Pettersson remains speculative.
