Buffalo Sabres Open To Trade Offers On Shocking Name
Several teams are believed to have interest in defenceman Bowen, Byram and Owen Power, and the Sabres are believed to be willing to entertain calls on both.
Power has 25 points and 75 blocked shots through 49 games, with 22:20 of ice time per night. He is on pace for career highs in goals, assists, points, shots on goal and blocks.
The 22-year-old was the first overall pick in the 2021 NHL Draft and immediately in his rookie year posted 35 points playing a robust 23:48 per night for Buffalo, while registering a plus/minus of +10, finishing third in the Calder balloting.
The Sabres have been in talks with, among other teams, the Vancouver Canucks, and would love to land star center Elias Pettersson. Vancouver is said to be interested in a package of Cozens and Byram, but The Fourth Period also reports that they're interested in Power (and why wouldn't they be?).
Trading Power would seem like a strange move for Buffalo, as the young stud d-man is in the first season of a seven-year, $8.35 million AAV deal and guys like him are hard to find. But you know what they say—ya gotta give something to get something.
We'll keep an eye on the developments on this front.
