Canadiens' Emil Heineman Struck By Car, To Miss Weeks

A frightening development for Montreal Canadiens rookie forward Emil Heineman, who was struck by a car in Salt Lake City, and will miss several weeks of action.

Heineman was a pedestrian when he was hit by a motor vehicle and suffered an upper-body injury. A scary situation, but the young winger will recover and is expected to return to the Habs lineup in three to four weeks.

Sources tell insider Frank Seravalli that Heineman is believed to have suffered a wrist injury. Salt Lake City police are investigating the incident.

The 23-year-old has been very productive in his bottom-six role, posting 10 goals and 17 points in 41 games, while dishing out 101 hits. He's done all that while playing just 11:09 per game.

His play on the third line with Jake Evans and Joel Armia has been tremendous of late. Per Seravalli, during a recent 10-game stretch that coincided with the Habs' impressive run into the thick of the Wild Card picture, Heineman recorded four goals and nine points.

Montreal takes on the Utah Hockey Club in Salt Lake Tuesday night.
