Canucks Rumors: Speculation That Quinn Hughes Won't Re-Sign With Vancouver
President Jim Rutherford acknowledged the stakes, stating, "If we were going to completely start over, that means [Hughes] goes, and we’d like to figure out a way that he’s here forever."
Hughes has been Vancouver’s most consistent performer, but the team’s struggles and lack of high-end prospects beyond Jonathan Lekkerimäki and Tom Willander raise questions about whether he will commit long-term.
With his brothers Luke and Jack thriving in New Jersey, joining the Devils will only become more plausible if the Canucks fail to build a true contender around him.

The ongoing tension between Elias Pettersson and J.T. Miller has further complicated Vancouver’s future, with Rutherford admitting, "It only gets resolved for a short period of time and then it festers again."
The Canucks have explored trading both players, engaging in discussions with teams like the Carolina Hurricanes and New York Rangers. However, their insistence on NHL-ready assets rather than draft picks signals a determination to remain competitive in the short term.
If these efforts fall short and Vancouver continues to struggle, the likelihood of Hughes reconsidering his future with the franchise will only increase.
