Capitals' Next Big Move Coming With Charlie Lindgren
Now that the Washington Capitals have Logan Thompson all locked up to a massive six-year extension, what's next for the other half of their surprisingly good goaltending tandem this season? According to insider Kevin Weekes, a healthy extension is soon coming for Charlie Lindgren as well.

With G Thompson now re-signed, I’m told the @Capitals are exploring a potential contract extension for G Lindgren somewhere between 3.5M-4M AAV. #ALLCaps #HockeyX pic.twitter.com/LcjuWw8BeH
Weekes says he was told that the Caps are exploring a new deal with Lindgren that would pay him between $3.5M and $4.5 million per year.
The 31-year-old Lindgren returned last week from a minor injury, and recorded a shutout in his first game back, now with a .901 save percentage on the season, a 2.61 goals against average and an 11-9-3 mark.
If Lindgren gets in the $4M range, that would combine with Thompson's $5.85M AAV, to put the Caps spending at about $10M a season for its netminding duo.
More to come...
