Devils Rumors: New Development In Simon Nemec Trade Talk

The New Jersey Devils have firmly informed teams that Simon Nemec, their top defensive prospect, is untouchable in trade discussions.

Recent speculation about his future emerged after Nemec expressed frustration in a Slovakian news outlet about not securing a permanent NHL role, but the organization swiftly addressed the situation.

According to Elliotte Friedman in 32 Thoughts, the Devils reassured Nemec and any inquiring teams that the 2022 second-overall pick remains central to their plans. “The Devils communicated to anyone who asked they have zero interest in dealing [him],” Friedman reported.

Nemec, 20, has continued to develop in the AHL with the Utica Comets, where he has posted an impressive 19 points in 27 games this season.

While he earned a brief nine-game NHL stint earlier this year, injuries and the team’s depth on defense have limited his opportunities at the top level.

Despite this, Nemec remains confident in his readiness for the NHL. “I believe I’ve proven multiple times that I belong in the NHL,” he told Slovak outlet Dennik Sport

With an already deep right-shot defensive group featuring Dougie Hamilton and others, the Devils are in a position to allow Nemec the time needed to refine his game.

They view him as a future cornerstone of their blue line and a potential power-play quarterback. General manager Tom Fitzgerald has made it clear that Nemec is integral to the team’s long-term future and won’t be included in any trade discussions, no matter the offers.
