Flyers Trade Rumors: 3 Potential Landing Spots for Joel Farabee
Philadelphia Flyers forward Joel Farabee had a career year in 2023-24, scoring 22 goals to go with 28 assists for 50 points—all career highs. But he's fallen off drastically this season, and has landed in head coach John Tortorella's doghouse and even recently sat in the press box for three consecutive healthy scratches.
Could a trade be coming by the March 7th deadline? He was listed as the No. 6 target on Frank Seravalli's Trade Board this month. Perhaps his two-point performance in an overtime win on Tuesday could even boost his stock.
Let's have a look at three potential landing spots for the soon-to-be 25-year-old who still has another three seasons to run on his $5M AAV deal.
Minnesota Wild
The Wild are having a tremendous season, beyond anyone's expectations, but we've heard for some time now that they're in the market to add on offense. According to insider Anthony Di Marco, contributor at Daily Faceoff, the Minnesota Wild are high on Farabee.
Buffalo Sabres
At the other end of the spectrum, the Sabres are a team that has massively disappointed in 2024-25, and they're still looking to shake things up. Buffalo could certainly use another top-six winger, and Farabee could fit the bill, and grow with the team's young core. Originally from nearby Syracuse, NY, perhaps a homecoming could unlock Farabee's apparent potential, evidenced by two 20-goal seasons in his previous four years before this one.
Pittsburgh Penguins
It's well-known that GM Kyle Dubas wants to make his team younger, but instead of just prospects or unproven players like Philip Tomasino (who he acquired earlier this season), how about going for the gusto, and taking a chance on a player who's already had two 20-goal seasons in the NHL, is signed for another few years, but is still young enough to fit Dubas's youth movement? Head coach Mike Sullivan would likely take to the two-way player, and Farabee could advance his game by learning from some of the best in Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin.
