Insider: Canucks Fed Up With Feud, are “Listening” on Both Pettersson & Miller

The Elias Pettersson-JT Miller feud in Vancouver has gotten to the point where the stress of the situation is affecting the organization badly enough that key people around the team, including head coach Rick Tocchet and captain Quinn Hughes are fed up with it, and the Canucks are listening to trade offers on both players.

Insider Elliotte Friedman reported on the drama on The Fan Hockey Show on Thursday, saying that the Canucks felt after their strong 2023-24 season that the Pettersson/Miller thing was in the past. But now they're finding out that's not the case.

The stress of it all, and the fact that it's still a thing, has begun to spill over elsewhere into the organization.

I think in their eyes it's not even so much about choosing one over the other, it's about 'I cannot believe that we still have to deal with this... Like, really, this is still a thing?'

I believe that everybody knows that Vancouver is open to listening, I believe they have already on both players and will continue to do so.

In fact, while Pettersson and Miller both met the media last week to insist there's nothing to this, both Tocchet and Miller's statements said otherwise.

Friedman does feel that the Canucks' first choice is of course for them to finally get over all this and live happily ever after. But he sees that this "is clearly bothering" both Tocchet and Hughes and that it's spread throughout the entire organization.

Miller has a full no-move clause for the next three years, while Pettersson's NMC doesn't kick in until next season.

The Canucks, who finished 1st in the Pacific Division last season and won a playoff round, are currently in 5th in the division at 17-11-8, and one point out of a Wild Card spot.
