Jack Quinn Joins Other Sabres Notables as Trade Candidate

The Buffalo Sabres' season hasn't quite gone as expected, as they remain in last place in the Atlantic Division, with the worst record in the Eastern Conference.

Not surprisingly, the vultures have been circling, as teams try to pry loose some of the Sabres' top young players. And while we've heard Dylan Cozens's name as the primary target around the league, there are also two others that have made insider Frank Seravalli's new Trade Board as we sit just two months out from the deadline.

While Cozens is the highest-ranked trade candidate, at #5 on the list, and Bowen Byram comes in at #7, youngster Jack Quinn has surprisingly jumped onto the list for the first time this season, sitting at #11.

At the start of this season, we picked Quinn as one of our breakout stars. We were wrong. It’s been a really tough year for Quinn, who sat for a stretch of time as a healthy scratch.

With that, rival teams are smelling an opportunity to try to scoop up the recent 8th overall pick. Quinn, 23, is still on his entry-level contract and becomes an RFA at season's end. This year, he's struggled to a plus/minus rating of -14, and 14 points in 34 games. Two years ago, he began to show his immense promise, with 14 goals and 37 points in 75 games, in less than 14 minutes per night.

The Sabres, of course, would be selling low on such a once-highly-touted prospect, but as Seravalli notes, "that why teams have been calling."
