Minnesota Wild Kirill Kaprizov headed for lower-body surgery

The Minnesota Wild were dealt a serious blow on Tuesday, as star forward Kirill Kaprizov is headed for surgery. Kaprizov will have a procedure done on his lower-body, and at this point, no specific timelines of his return have been announced, but there is some potential he could be out until the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Kaprizov has recorded 50 points in his first 34 games this season, and was out a month due to the same injury, returned for three games, and now things have turned drastically worse.

“Getting the issue fixed now, especially with the Wild having no games from Feb. 9 to 21 when the NHL will shut down for the 4 Nations Face-Off, may allow Kaprizov to return well in advance of the playoffs,” stated Russo from the story above.

The Wild sit 29-17-4 on the season, but have a 4-6-0 record in their last 10 games, meanwhile GM Bill Guerin isn't quick to point the finger at injuries being the reason for their recent slide. Guerin believes there's several players who could performing to a higher standard. The Wild will be an interesting team to watch heading into the March 7 trade deadline.
