NHL Hits Zachary L'Heureux With Suspension for Slew Foot

At the age of 21, he'd already been suspended 11 times for on-ice transgressions. Now in his first NHL season, Zach L'Heureux has picked up his first ban at the highest level, being suspended for three games by NHL Player Safety for his slew-foot takedown of Minnesota Wild captain Jared Spurgeon.

Spurgeon slammed into the end boards on the trip/slew-foot in Tuesday night's game, and after leaving the arena on crutches, the top-four D-man is out "indefinitely" while the Wild await official word on the severity of the injury.

L'Heureux was suspended nine times in the QMJHL in juniors, and another two times last season in the AHL. The 12 suspensions have totaled 42 games across the three leagues.

The 5'11", 197-pound forward leads all NHL rookies in hits this season with 106. And while he has 32 penalty minutes in 33 games, last year with the AHL's Milwaukee Admirals spent 197 minutes in the penalty box in 66 games.
