Ottawa Senators and Vancouver Canucks linked to blockbuster trade
The Vancouver Canucks are open for business, and a recent trade rumor has a potential blockbuster being worked on with the Ottawa Senators.
According to The Fourth Period, the Senators have discussed an Elias Pettersson trade with the Canucks, one that would see forward Josh Norris involved in the deal. Pettersson and J.T Miller have been rumored to be on their way out of Vancouver the past few weeks, with Miller the much more likelier of the two to be dealt.
I would do this in a jiffy if I were the Senators!

I love Josh Norris, but Elias Pettersson is definitely an upgrade. Do it, Ottawa! #GoSensGo #Canucks #NHL pic.twitter.com/Si1eH4RPnG
Norris is no stranger to trade rumors. So far this season, the 25-year-old center has recorded 17 goals and 27 points in 48 games. Norris is owed $7.95 million AAV through the 2029-30 season, and doesn't have any trade protection on his contract until the 2026-27 season.
As for Pettersson, he's vouched to the Canucks that he'd like to remain with the team through the March 7th deadline. Pettersson is signed for $11.6 million AAV through the 2031-32 season, and also doesn't currently have any trade protection. It seems like, if the Canucks' management duo of Jim Rutherford and Patrik Allvin can get what they feel are fair deals for both Pettersson and Miller, there's a case to be made for them to deal both before the deadline.
Is Norris a game breaker though? This feels like the type of return that could really turn the Canucks' fanbase against management.
