Greig, 22, was selected by the Senators with the 28th overall pick of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. The 6-foot forward is viewed as having a lot of potential and has emerged as a solid part of the Senators' roster. Thus, it makes sense that they worked quickly to get him signed to this multi-year contract extension.
Greig has appeared in 37 games this season with the Senators, where he has six goals, 12 points, 17 blocks, 63 hits, and a minus-7 rating. This is after he set career highs with 13 goals, 13 assists, 26 points, and 129 hits this past season.
With this move, the Senators have ensured that Greig will be a key part of their roster for four more years at least. The young forward has the potential to continue to hit a higher level, and it will be fascinating to see how he performs during his contract extension from here.
In 129 career NHL games over three NHL seasons thus far, Greig has 21 goals, 26 assists, 47 points, 100 penalty minutes, 225 hits, and a plus-4 rating.
