Penguins Make Huge Decision on Tristan Jarry

It appears as though the last straw has been reached in Pittsburgh for goaltender Tristan Jarry. In a shocking (but yet not too surprising) move, the Penguins are placing the veteran on waivers on Wednesday.

Jarry is "supposed to be" the Penguins' No. 1 goalie, with his multi-year deal (three more years to run) at a $5.375 cap hit. He really lost that designation, however, last season, when Alex Nedeljkovic took over the top role heading down the stretch.

Not much has changed this year, as Jarry has an .886 save percentage and 3.32 goals against average, and it appears that the Penguins have seen enough. It's highly unlikely, however, that any team will claim him with that massive contract, so he'll have to resume his season back in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in the AHL.

It could be that the Penguins are ready to go back to top prospect Joel Blomqvist. He has a .912 Sv% in 12 games in the AHL this season and a .904 mark in his eight games earlier in the season with Pittsburgh.

The Penguins currently rank 30th in the NHL in save percentage.
