Rangers Rumors: 3 Trade Candidates as Shakeup to Continue in New York

The New York Rangers are a mess and GM Chris Drury is expected to continue shaking things up before March's trade deadline. The Rangers have lost four in a row, their 2-8-0 in their last 10, Igor Shesterkin is now on the IR, and it feels like head coach Peter Laviolette is on ultra-thin ice.

Expect to see the Rangers make another big move trade wise, here's three trade candidates Drury could be involving in trade talks:

K'Andre Miller

There's been a ton of speculation about Miller's future in New York. The 24-year-old blueliner is a pending restricted free-agent and Drury isn't rushing to get an extension done to this point. Miller has appeared in 30 games, has scored twice and added four assists. Unfortunately, it's been a tough season for Miller, and he's become a bit of a scapegoat in New York.

Mika Zibanejad

Zibanejad has heard it from the Rangers faithful this season, and will be a tough trade to make considering his current production and contract. Zibanejad has recorded just six goals in 36 games, and is making $8.5 million AAV through the 2029-30 season. If Drury is looking to shake up the core even more, asking Zibanejad for a list of teams and a willingness to waive his no-movement clause would certainly cause quite the stir.

Chris Kreider

Kreider has been a healthy scratch recently, and originally when Drury sent a memo to the rest of the league in late November about the Rangers being open for business, Jacob Trouba and Kreider were named as the first two candidates. Trouba's gone, could Kreider be next? The speedy winger has 12 goals and one assist in 32 games and is set to make $6.5 million AAV the next two seasons. Kreider has a 15-team no-trade clause and at this point, there hasn't been many teams linked to his services, but if Drury ends up moving him, expect to see a team in the Western Conference land Kreider's services.
