Report: 2 Washington Capitals Pending UFAs That Will NOT Be on the Move This Season
Needless to say, the Washington Capitals have been pleased with the way things have gone this season. They sit atop the entire Eastern Conference with a 25-10-2 mark. They will no doubt be looking to add at the trade deadline and make their push. But according to a report, teams can forget about trying to secure either Logan Thompson or Charlie Lindgren in a trade, despite their impending UFA status.
Insider Elliotte Friedman revealed on his 32 Thoughts podcast this week that Washington has no intention of dealing either one of them in any trades by the deadline.
Washington has told teams that they want to keep both of those guys.
With the two goalies each on expiring deals worth not too much more than league minimum, the Capitals are getting major bang for the buck from their netminding duo. The team ranks 5th in the NHL in both goals against and save percentage.

Thompson is 14-2-2 with a 2.38 goals-against average and a .916 save percentage. Lindgren is 10-8 with a .900 save percentage and 2.69 GAA. The two have been in a strict platoon all season, alternating games.

Whether the Caps will try to retain either or both of their backstops into the future next summer is unknown, but for now, as the old saying goes, 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it.'
