Report: 4 Teams Linked to Signing Free-Agent Brandon Saad

The St. Louis Blues and Brandon Saad have decided to terminate his contract, as Saad walks away from over $4 million with the move. On Friday, he'll become a free agent and be able to sign with any team of his choice.

So far this season, Saad has been inconsistent with his scoring touch, recording just seven goals, and 16 points in 43 games this year. Last season, Saad recorded 26 goals and 42 points, and with multiple Stanley Cups on his mantle, he's going to draw a ton of interest from around the league.

The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta spoke about Saad's options heading into the open market and listed the Toronto Maple Leafs, Washington Capitals, Dallas Stars and Edmonton Oilers as potential landing spots for the 32-year-old veteran winger.

Saad isn't expected to sign for much more than $1 million for the rest of this season, and if a team is willing to go multiple years on his contract, which seems unlikely at this point, they could have a huge advantage in getting a deal done.

The Oilers and Leafs have links to Saad for multiple reasons, including Oilers GM Stan Bowman knowing Saad from their days together in Chicago, while Leafs' head coach Craig Berube had Saad with the Blues for multiple years.
