Report: Evgeni Malkin Has All 3 Stanley Cup Rings Stolen After Burglary

Pittsburgh Penguins star Evgeni Malkin was reportedly the victim of a home burglary on January 11, 2025, during which all three of his Stanley Cup rings were stolen.

The break-in occurred at Malkin's residence in Sewickley Heights, Pennsylvania, while the Penguins faced the Ottawa Senators in a home game at PPG Paints Arena.

Malkin, who was sidelined due to an upper-body injury, was not at the game or home at the time. According to sources, his security system and cameras were down, and a safe containing the rings—representing championships from 2009, 2016, and 2017—had been left open.

The stolen rings hold a lot of personal and professional significance for Malkin, especially the 2009 ring, tied to his Conn Smythe Trophy win for an extraordinary playoff run where he notched 14 goals and 22 assists.

Speaking briefly to The Athletic, Malkin confirmed the theft, stating, “Yes, two days ago.” The Penguins issued a statement expressing support for their star player, adding, “Malkin has requested that his privacy be respected during this time, and we will have no further comment.”

Local authorities and team security are investigating, urging anyone with information to come forward.

This burglary places Malkin among several athletes recently targeted in similar crimes, including Patrick Mahomes, Luka Dončić, and Tyler Seguin.

The FBI has noted an increase in organized thefts aimed at high-profile individuals, often exploiting their absences during public commitments.
