Sabres Trade Rumors: 6 Teams Listed as Dylan Cozens Suitors

The Buffalo Sabres continue to take calls on Dylan Cozens. There's plenty of interest around the league in a former 7th overall pick who is still just 23 years old, and only a season and a half removed from a breakout 31-goal season.

But the Sabres need to do something to turn their fortunes around, and Cozens and Bowen Byram seem to be the magnets that are attracting rival interest around the NHL.

With that, Matt Larkin of Daily Faceoff has proposed six landing spots for Cozens that make the most sense. In alphabetical order:

Calgary Flames

The big question by observers of the Flames is whether to go for it this season or spend another year trying to maximize their draft position. But Calgary is just one point back of a Wild Card spot in the Western Conference.

Nevertheless, Larkin suggests that "they should add a forward in his true prime to a lineup that isn’t bad enough to tank fully anyway". And a right-shot center is exactly what their lineup needs. Larkin's colleague Frank Seravalli thinks that the Flames are the perfect fit

Chicago Blackhawks

With two very young centers in Connor Bedard and Frank Nazar expected to carry so much of a load for this rebuilding team, "Adding a big pivot who can log significant minutes would take some pressure off," writes Larkin. And besides, Cozens apparently grew up a Blackhawks fan.

Detroit Red Wings

We discussed this possibility here, as the Wings are already in talks with the Sabres.

Nashville Predators

Another team that's already been in discussions with the Sabres, with Cozens as their focus.

Philadelphia Flyers

Philly's need for a true star No. 1 center has been well-documented, as has their interest in Cozens. Larkin writes that "Flyers GM Danny Briere made a pitch to (Sabres GM Kevyn) Adams for a Cozens trade."

Vancouver Canucks

If the Canucks are to divest themselves of one of their prime star centers in Elias Pettersson and/or JT Miller, they will need to get a potential replacement at the pivot. Cozens could be it. Larkin even proposes a potential Cozens and Byram offer to Vancouver for Pettersson.
