Seattle Kraken Place Daniel Sprong On Waivers

The Seattle Kraken have made a roster move, as they have placed forward Daniel Sprong on waivers.

Sprong, 27, was acquired by the Kraken from the Vancouver Canucks back in November in exchange for future considerations. In 19 games split between the two clubs this season, he has two goals, three assists, and a minus-1 rating.

Sprong has been pretty quiet since being dealt to the Kraken, posting just one goal and one assist in 10 games. He last played on Dec. 28 against the Canucks and was a healthy scratch in each of the Kraken's last four games.

With Sprong having an easily affordable $975,000 cap hit and being a solid secondary scorer when playing at his best, there is certainly a chance that he could get claimed. During this past season with the Detroit Red Wings, he had 18 goals to go along with 43 points in 76 games. This was after he had 21 goals and 46 points in 66 games with Seattle in 2022-23.

It will be intriguing to see if Sprong ends up getting claimed from here. If not, he will be heading to the American Hockey League (AHL) to play for the Coachella Valley Firebirds.
