3 Pittsburgh Penguins Who Could Be Traded Next

The Pittsburgh Penguins made a late-night splash on Jan. 31, trading Marcus Pettersson and Drew O'Connor to the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for Danton Heinen, Vincent Desharnais, Melvin Fenstrom, and a 2025 conditional first-round pick.

With the Penguins struggling and being clear sellers, they are likely not done making moves yet. Thus, let's go over three Penguins who could be dealt next.

Rickard Rakell

Rakell is having an excellent season with the Penguins. In 52 games, the 31-year-old winger has 23 goals and 43 points. However, with the Penguins retooling their roster, he has been creating chatter as a trade candidate. The Penguins could very well look to trade him while his value is high, and there is no question that playoff teams would love to have him in their top six.

Michael Bunting

Michael Bunting is another Penguins forward who has been in the rumor mill this season. The scrappy winger could be a good addition for a team looking for more secondary scoring and bite in their middle six. In 51 games this season, he has 14 goals, 27 points, and 55 hits.

Matt Grzelcyk

Matt Grzelcyk is quietly having a solid offensive season for the Penguins, already setting a new career high with 27 points in 53 games. With the Massachusetts native being a pending unrestricted free agent, the Pens could very well shop him at the deadline. Teams looking for more offense from the point and overall depth could call about him.
