3 Potential Landing Spots For Penguins' Rickard Rakell
It has been another disappointing season for the Pittsburgh Penguins. At the time of this writing, they have a 23-24-9 record and are seventh in the Metropolitan Division standings. Due to this, they are in selling mode right now, and forward Rickard Rakell is their top trade candidate.
Due to this, let's go over three potential landing spots for Rakell.
Los Angeles Kings
It is no secret that the Kings are looking to add a top-six right winger, so Rakell makes a lot of sense for them as a target. He would give their top six a major boost if acquired, as his 24 goals and 46 points in 54 games this season effectively demonstrate. With the Kings needing more offense, Rakell could very well be on their radar.
Columbus Blue Jackets
The Blue Jackets are right in the playoff mix and are in a prime position to add to their roster. Adding a veteran forward like Rakell could make sense for them, as he would instantly give their top six a boost. In addition, with Rakell having multiple years left on his deal, he would be a long-term part of Columbus' roster as they look to take that next step.
Buffalo Sabres
The Sabres are in desperate need of another top-six winger. While they are at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings, Rakell could be a player worth targeting, as he is under contract until the end of the 2027-28 season. In addition, Buffalo has plenty of cap space to work with, so they could easily take on Rakell's $5 million AAV.
