3 Potential Trade Destinations For Canadiens' David Savard

The Montreal Canadiens have hit a rough patch as of late, and their playoff hopes have decreased significantly because of it. With this, they are expected to be sellers at the 2025 NHL Trade Deadline, and defenseman David Savard is one of their top trade candidates. With this, let's go over three potential landing spots for the veteran blueliner.

Edmonton Oilers

Adding a right-shot defenseman needs to be one of the Oilers' top deadline objectives. The right side of their defense could still use a boost, even after signing veteran defenseman John Klingberg. Bringing in a stay-at-home defenseman like Savard would give the Oilers' defensive group a nice boost, whether he plays on the second or third pairing.

Winnipeg Jets

The Jets could be a club to watch when it comes to the Savard sweepstakes. When taking a gander at their group, it is fair to argue that they would benefit by adding another right-shot defenseman. Savard could fit very nicely on their bottom pairing and also provide them with another serviceable option for their penalty kill.

Colorado Avalanche

The Avalanche could also make sense as a landing spot for Savard. He would give Colorado more experienced depth on their blueline and could be a nice upgrade to their bottom pairing. In addition, with the Avalanche being contenders, it would not hurt to add another play with a Stanley Cup ring.
