3 Winnipeg Jets Trade Candidates Heading Into 2025 Trade Deadline

The Winnipeg Jets continue to make headlines this season as one of the many surprises around the league. The Jets have exceeded expectations this year and have entered the 4 Nations Face-Off break leading the Central Division with a 39-14-3 record.

GM Kevin Cheveldayoff has been linked to finding some help down the middle of the ice and there's zero doubt the Jets are going all-in this season. They currently have over $9 million in cap space, and certainly have a ton of flexibility financially, especially for a first-place team. Here's three Jets who could be moved before the trade deadline March 7:

Logan Stanley

The towering defenseman has had a tough time staying healthy throughout his career, but there's plenty to like about his game. Stanley is 6-foot-7, he skates very fluidly considering his size, and he plays with a mean streak. The Jets love Stanley, so it's going to take quite the upgrade for them to consider moving the former first-round pick. The Kitchener, ON native is signed through next season at $1.25 million AAV.

Ville Heinola

Another former first-round pick blueliner, Heinola hasn't progressed like Stanley to this point in their careers, however, his untapped potential to be a solid two-way defenseman could lead to some trade interest. Heinola is signed for $800,000 through next year, and so far this season in 16 games has recorded one assist, while playing 14:04 of ice-time. The 23-year-old is three years younger than Stanley and seven inches shorter.

2025 first-round pick/top prospects

There's little doubt Cheveldayoff will have to give up his first rounder or one of his top prospects if he's going to land either Brock Nelson, Brayden Schenn, Seth Jones or Casey Mittelstadt. At this point it feels like Colby Barlow may be the only untouchable, with Brayden Yager a possibility to get moved. Same can be said for winger Rasmus Kupari, who has played 52 games this season with the Jets, recording seven points.
