Breaking: Trevor Zegras Pays the Price for Head Shot With Multi-Game Suspension
The verdict is in for Anaheim Ducks forward Trevor Zegas. Despite the lack of any call whatsoever during the game, he has now been suspended by NHL Player Safety for three games for blindsiding the Detroit Red Wings' Michael Rasmussen with a hard shoulder hit to the head.

Rasmussen left the ice, dazed, and did not return. He did not join the Red Wings on their trip to Minnesota for a road game tomorrow night. Detroit head coach Todd McLellan says the 6'6" center is day-to-day.
"After the puck is released, and outside the window of when a check can be legally finished, Zegras delivers a late, high hit that makes significant contact with Rasmussen's head... This is interference," said the Department of Player Safety in its ruling.
"In addition to the lateness, what causes this hit to rise to the level of supplemental discipline, is the significant head contact on this play combined with the force."
This is Zegras's first suspension in his five-year NHL career. He has been fined once.
On the ice, Zegras is having another disappointing season for the Ducks, with just 16 points in 34 games with 17:03 average time on ice.
Rasmussen, who had scored earlier in the game for Detroit, has nine goals and 16 points in 56 games.
