"Charlie was admitted to Massachusetts General Hospital on Monday to undergo testing related to an upper-body injury sustained during the 4 Nations Face-Off and is currently being evaluated by Boston Bruins Head Team Physician Dr. Peter Asnis.
He will not play for Team USA in the 4 Nations Face-Off Championship Game on Thursday at TD Garden.
The Boston Bruins will provide further updates on his condition and status as soon as they become available."
A tough break for Team USA.
An additional report from insider Elliotte Friedman and others indicated that McAvoy was being treated for what’s believed to be an infection related to the upper-body injury suffered in a round-robin game.
Fellow insider Frank Seravalli reports that since the team has 12 forwards and 6 defensemen, they currently cannot bring in any roster reinforcements for Thursday.
McAvoy's loss will be felt by the U.S., especially after noting the big game he had against Canada in the round-robin.
In a span of 30 seconds, Charlie McAvoy laid out McDavid and Jake Guentzel tied the game…
