Bruins Trade Rumors: 5 Teams Listed as Brad Marchand Suitors

Is it really possible that the Boston Bruins could trade their captain Brad Marchand? Can anyone imagine him in a different uniform?

For the first time in his career, Marchand is the subject of trade rumors. According to a report by insider James Murphy in rg.org, a source tells him that the Bruins, while not actively "shopping" him, are indeed listening, and "this is getting real."

They’re getting calls on [Marchand], and teams are wondering what they’re going to do here, but, at this point, I think they’re just listening. Still, the fact that the Bruins or Marchand haven’t come right out and squashed this like they have in the past is telling. With things also being so quiet on contract talks, it tells you this is getting real.

If the two sides can't get on common ground on an extension moving forward for the pending UFA, trade talks will intensify after the 4 Nations break, and these five teams have been put forward by Murphy as potential suitors:

  • Colorado Avalanche
  • Edmonton Oilers
  • Minnesota Wild
  • Dallas Stars
  • Vegas Golden Knights

Any and all of these teams are serious contenders for the Stanley Cup this season, and adding a leader like Marchand could put them over the top.

The source expects Bruins GM Don Sweeney to ask for a first-round pick and a top prospect, and he fully believes he can get that.

As for the Avs, they don't have a 2025 first-rounder, which may be a wrench in their plans.

The report also states that the Golden Knights are said to be waiting for word from Boston that they're serious about considering a trade, and then they'll be ready to jump right in.

The 36-year-old Marchand hit the 20-goal plateau on Sunday for the 12th straight year, and 14th time overall in his 16-year career. He also has five 30-goal seasons.
