Canada's Connor McDavid on 4 Nations: 'This thing is far from over'

Team Canada may have lost the battle against USA over the weekend, but superstar Connor McDavid knows his team is capable of taking the long way to Thursday's final, and a potential rematch against the United States.

McDavid caught up with The Athletic's Arpon Basu following Canada's 3-1 loss and made one thing loud and clear, Canada isn't going to back down from the challenge ahead. "It was fast, tight-checking, competitive, emotional. It had everything you would want in a hockey game. It sucks it didn't go our way, but this thing's far from over."

McDavid opened the scoring for Canada on Saturday, but unfortunately that was the only offence for Canada, who had disappointing games from Nathan MacKinnon and Mitch Marner. The game started with three fights in the first nine seconds, as the Tkachuk brothers and J.T Miller knew going in they wanted to drop the gloves early on and set the tone for the Americans.

McDavid's Canadian teammate and childhood buddy Sam Bennett reiterated McDavid's comments, as it's obvious, Canada doesn't lack any confidence despite the loss the their most heated rivals. "It's the greatest rivalry in hockey, and they got us tonight," Bennett said, according to NHL.com's Mike Zeisberger. "I mean, we're not going to look ahead to a (rematch), but obviously, we want them again."

Canada needs to win in regulation against Team Finland on Monday afternoon from Boston to punch their ticket into Thursday's final, and rematch against USA.
