Canadiens & Capitals Standing Out As Potential Trade Partners
Montreal Canadiens forward Jake Evans is one of the NHL's top trade candidates as we continue to inch closer to the 2025 NHL trade deadline. He is a pending unrestricted free agent who is having a career season on a struggling Habs team, so he is standing out as a prime potential rental for contenders.
When looking at teams who should be in the mix, the Washington Capitals undoubtedly stand out. They are looking for help down the middle, and Evans would give them that.
If the Capitals acquired Evans, he would give them an upgrade for the third-line spot over veteran forward Lars Eller. In addition, because he is solid defensively, he would also give them a clear option for their penalty kill unit.
Evans, 28, has appeared in 56 games this season with the Canadiens, where he has 11 goals, 16 assists, 27 points, and 79 hits. Overall, he is having himself a strong season, and he would have the potential to give the Capitals a significant boost because of it.
We will need to wait and see if the Capitals and Canadiens end up striking a deal centering around Evans, but they look like a good match on paper.
