Canadiens & Hurricanes Emerging As Potential Trade Partners
The Montreal Canadiens are preparing to be sellers at the 2025 NHL trade deadline after their big-time recent struggles. One of their top trade candidates heading into the deadline is forward Jake Evans, and he will be a hot commodity as we continue to get closer to March 7.
One team that should be watched incredibly closely when it comes to the Evans sweepstakes is the Carolina Hurricanes.
The Hurricanes are expected to be busy at the deadline, as they are one of the top teams in the NHL and are looking to win the Stanley Cup. One area that they should look to improve is their bottom six, so a player like Evans should grab their attention.
When looking at the Hurricanes' current group, Evans could slot very nicely at their fourth-line center spot. However, he also could challenge for a spot in their top nine if the Hurricanes want to switch things up. In addition, he would be a clear option for their penalty kill because of his solid two-way play.
Evans would also give the Hurricanes more secondary offensive production. The 28-year-old forward has appeared in 57 games this season, where he has 11 goals, 27 points, and a plus-2 rating. The Hurricanes adding that kind of offense to their bottom six would certainly be a good thing.
We will need to wait and see if the Hurricanes end up being the team that acquires Evans by the deadline from here.
