Canadiens Rumors: 6 Teams Linked To Jake Evans
Montreal Canadiens forward Jake Evans is one of the top trade candidates in the NHL right now. The pending unrestricted free agent is having a strong season with the Habs, posting 11 goals and 26 points in 52 games.
Evans is starting to generate serious trade interest around the NHL, as The Fourth Period reported that the Los Angeles Kings, New Jersey Devils, Toronto Maple Leafs, Edmonton Oilers, Winnipeg Jets, and Carolina Hurricanes are all linked to the Canadiens center.
With Evans being a solid two-way forward who provides solid secondary scoring and kills penalties, it is understandable that he is generating interest from several playoff teams. There is no question that he could be a valuable addition to a contender's bottom six because of this.
However, at this juncture, the Canadiens may not be in a rush to move him just yet. The Habs are aiming to sign him to a contract extension. However, if he remains unsigned once we get closer to March, it would not be surprising in the slightest if Montreal takes advantage of his trade value and moves him.
It will be fascinating to see what happens with Evans, but it is clear that we now have six clubs to keep an eye on in the sweepstakes.
