Canadiens Rumors: Joel Armia Linked To 4 Teams
Montreal Canadiens forward Joel Armia is a clear trade candidate heading into the 2025 NHL trade deadline. The veteran forward is a pending unrestricted free agent on a struggling Habs club, so he could be a nice addition for a playoff team needing more forward depth.
According to The Fourth Period, the Washington Capitals, Tampa Bay Lightning, Vegas Golden Knights, and Edmonton Oilers are all linked to Armia at this stage of the season.
The Capitals having Armia in their sights makes sense. Their bottom six could use a boost, and Armia could slot nicely on their fourth line. In addition, he would provide them with another option for their penalty kill.
The Lightning looking at Armia is also understandable, as they certainly need more depth and secondary offensive production. When looking at Tampa Bay's current lineup, Armia could work well on their third line.
The Golden Knights being in the mix for Armia is also understandable, as they could use another veteran with playoff experience in their forward group. Their depth at the right wing position is also not the strongest, so adding a player like Armia would give them a bit of a boost.
As for the Oilers, Armia could also be a nice fit in their bottom six because of his steady two-way play. He would also work on their penalty kill.
We will need to wait and see if any of these teams end up acquiring Armia from the Canadiens by the deadline from here.
