Here's How The Athletic's New Trade Board Looks After 1 Frantic Day

It's been a trade bonanza over the last week+ in the NHL, with several major deals going down. And we've still got another five weeks to the trade deadline.

The Athletic, however, picked a bad day to release their newest Trade Board on Friday, with their Top 10 getting ravaged by trades and other reasons. Here's a look at how their Top 10 looks after a Frantic Friday:

  1. JT Miller, C, Traded to NY Rangers
  2. Brock Nelson, C, New York Islanders
  3. Yanni, Gourde, C, Seattle Kraken – out 5-7 weeks after surgery
  4. Marcus Pettersson, D, Traded to Vancouver Canucks
  5. Rasmus Ristolainen, D, Philadelphia Flyers
  6. John Gibson, G, Anaheim Ducks
  7. Trent Frederic, F, Boston Bruins
  8. Ryan Donato, F, Chicago Blackhawks
  9. Ivan Provorov, D, Columbus Blue Jackets
  10. Elias Pettersson, C, Vancouver Canucks —"off the market... For now"
The hockey world has been all abuzz about the headliner of the Frantic Friday, the JT Miller trade to the Rangers. That struck the #1 target off the trade board, and moved Nelson up to the top spot.

Within hours after the list was released, #3 on the list, Yanni Gourde of the Kraken, it was revealed, would be out for five to seven weeks due to sports hernia surgery. That should leave him out until past the trade deadline, so although it doesn't eliminate a deal, it might cut down on the chances.

Following the Miller trade, the Canucks pulled off another deal, nabbing blueliner Marcus Pettersson from the Pittsburgh Penguins and striking him off the list at #4 (and giving Vancouver its third Pettersson on their roster).

And then of course, one of the two Elias Petterssons (the much more famous one) on the Canucks was at #10 on the trade board, and the latest report from Vancouver is that he is "off the market — for now."
