Hurricanes Rumors: Several Teams Linked to Mikko Rantanen

On Jan. 25, the Carolina Hurricanes shocked the hockey world by acquiring superstar forward Mikko Rantanen from the Colorado Avalanche. However, he has found himself right back in the rumor mill, as they have not made progress on a contract extension.

There is plenty of interest in Rantanen right now, as The Fourth Period reported that the Dallas Stars, Vegas Golden Knights, Florida Panthers, Winnipeg Jets, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Toronto Maple Leafs are all linked to the superstar forward.

It is not surprising in the slightest that these six teams have Rantanen on their radar, with the star's future in Carolina looking questionable. They are all top contenders in the NHL, and it would be massive for any of them to land a superstar talent like Rantanen before the playoffs.

Rantanen, 28, has appeared in 55 games this season split between the Avalanche and Hurricanes, where he has 26 goals, 40 assists, 66 points, and a plus-13 rating. However, has struggled early on in his Canes tenure, posting just a goal and an assist in his first six games.

We will now need to wait and see if any of these six clubs end up acquiring Rantanen before the trade deadline passes from here.
