Islanders' Kyle Palmieri Would Head Across the Hudson In Proposed Trade with Devils
The New York Islanders will be one of the more intriguing teams to watch as we head towards the NHL trade deadline. A recent run has them within four points of a Wild Card spot, and GM Lou Lamoriello is not likely to trade any of his top performers—UFA status or not—if the team has a good shot at the playoffs.
Nevertheless, there are rumors a-plenty surrounding Kyle Palmieri, who is on an expiring contract and is well on his way to his seventh 20-goal season.
The latest proposed trade idea for the 34-year-old former All-Star comes to us from Daily Faceoff Insider Frank Seravalli, who has come up with a hypothetical deal that would send Palmieri across the Hudson back to the New Jersey Devils.
New Jersey Devils Receive:
- Kyle Palmieri
New York Islanders Receive:
- 2025 2nd Round Pick (from Edmonton)
- 2025 3rd Round Pick (from Vegas)
New Jersey is in the market for a top-six forward at the deadline to add a scoring boost, and this would certainly fill that need.
The two relatively high draft picks to the Islanders would be the expected return for a rental forward like Palmieri, notes Seravalli.
The Devils are currently in 3rd spot in the Metropolitan Division, comfortably in a playoff spot, while the Isles are chasing three other teams above them who are also trying to nab one of the Wild Card spots.
