Jesse Puljujarvi Signs PTO Contract With New Team
Earlier this week, forward Jesse Puljujarvi mutually agreed to terminate his contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Now, the 26-year-old forward has landed a new opportunity.
According to the American Hockey League (AHL) transactions log, Puljujarvi has signed a professional tryout (PTO) contract with the Charlotte Checkers, the AHL affiliate of the Florida Panthers.
Puljujarvi will now look to impress with the Checkers from here. If he does, it will help his chances of potentially receiving an NHL contract from the Panthers before the season is over.
Puljujarvi appeared in 26 games this season with Pittsburgh, where he had three goals, nine points, 45 hits, and a minus-1 rating. This included posting five points in his first six games but also just four in his final 20 contests with Pittsburgh.
Down in the AHL with the Wilke-Barre/Scranton Penguins this season, he had one goal, three points, and a minus-2 rating.
It will be incredibly fascinating to see how Puljujarvi performs during his PTO with the Checkers from here. In 382 career NHL games split between the Edmonton Oilers, Carolina Hurricanes, and Penguins, he has 57 goals, 70 assists, and 127 points.
