Kraken Rumors: 3 Teams In The Mix For Jamie Oleksiak
It has been another rough season for the Seattle Kraken. At this point of the campaign, they sport a 23-28-4 record and are seventh in the Pacific Division standings. With this, they will be sellers at the 2025 NHL trade deadline, and defenseman Jamie Oleksiak is one of their top trade candidates.
Interest in Oleksiak is starting to increase, as The Fourth Period reported that the Toronto Maple Leafs, Dallas Stars, and Edmonton Oilers are all linked to the 6-foot-7 blueliner.
The Maple Leafs' blueline could use another left-shot defenseman, so it makes sense that Oleksiak is reportedly on their radar. He could be a strong fit on their third pairing and would also provide them with another option for their penalty kill. In addition, he would provide for toughness to Toronto's blueline for the playoffs if acquired.
Oleksiak is no stranger to the Stars, as he was selected by them with the 14th overall pick of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft and has already had two stints with them. While the Stars recently added Cody Ceci, they are still looking to add to their defense, especially with Miro Heiskanen now out month-to-month. Thus, Oleksiak could be a solid shutdown defenseman for them to add to their group.
As for the Oilers, it is no secret that they want to improve their defensive group, and acquiring Oleksiak would do just that. He would offer them more stability on their blueline as they look to go on another real run this spring.
