Maple Leafs Rumors: Toronto Receiving Trade Interest on 2 Top Prospects

The Toronto Maple Leafs are looking to add a top-nine center to their group before the March 7 trade deadline, and GM Brad Treliving will be hard pressed to keep all of his top prospects in the process.

Speculation is brewing that most GM's have been asking about both Fraser Minten and Easton Cowan in trade talks, two of the Maple Leafs' top prospects. Minten, 20, was a 2022 second-round pick who has been up and down between the Leafs and Toronto Marlies of the AHL this season. Toronto sees him as a potential 3C moving forward, with the best-case scenario as a defensive-minded 2C. With them going all-in this season, Minten could certainly be involved in a deal, especially if the Leafs land either Scott Laughton or Brayden Schenn.

Cowan on the other hand, is a much more dynamic offensive threat. He's set a ton of records playing for the London Knights of the OHL, and the former first-rounder almost made the Leafs out of training camp this year, as a 19 year old. The only way Toronto will move Cowan is if they are landing a top-six impact player who has a few years of term left on his contract.

Other trade candidates for the Leafs include Nick Robertson, Max Domi, David Kampf, and Conor Timmins. Right now, with a few weeks left before the trade deadline March 7, it feels like one of these players, along with Toronto's 2026 first-round pick are more likely to be moved than Minten or Cowan.
