NHL Rumors: 3 Red Wings Who Could Be Traded Next

The Detroit Red Wings made a move on Feb. 24, trading goaltender Ville Husso to the Anaheim Ducks for future considerations. Seeing the Red Wings trade Husso is understandable, as he had dropped down on the team's depth chart. They also gained some much-needed cap space.

With Husso being moved, let's look at three Red Wings players who could be traded next.

Vladimir Tarasenko

The fit just has not been there between Tarasenko and the Red Wings. The 33-year-old winger's offensive numbers are far lower than expected this season, as he has just seven goals, 23 points, and a minus-10 rating in 55 games. Due to his struggles, Tarasenko's name has been floating around the rumor mill, so he is a player to watch as we get closer to the March 7 deadline.

Justin Holl

The Red Wings found a taker for Husso's expensive contract. Could they try to do the same for Holl? He has a $3.4 million cap hit until the end of next season, so the Red Wings would surely need to give a team a sweetener or two in any potential deal. In 49 games this season, he has one goal, five points, and a minus-7 rating. He was also placed on waivers back in October.

Joe Veleno

Veleno could be a dark-horse trade candidate to watch as we get closer to the deadline. The 2018 first-round pick has never become the top-six forward Detroit hoped he would, and his offense has cooled off this season. In 52 games, he has just five goals and five assists. A change of scenery could benefit him, and there could be interest in him when noting he plays with an edge and kills penalties. Thus, it would not be too surprising if he was included in a trade package that landed Detroit an upgrade in their lineup.
