NHL Rumors: 3 Trade Targets For The Ottawa Senators
For the first time in a while, the Ottawa Senators are in a position to be buyers. At the time of this writing, they have the second wild spot in the Eastern Conference, so they certainly have a real shot of breaking their seven-year playoff drought.
Due to this, let's go over three trade targets for the Senators to consider.
David Savard
It would be smart for the Senators to add another defenseman for their right side. It is an area on their roster that could use more depth, so Savard could make a lot of sense for them. The Montreal Canadiens are expected to move the veteran, and he could slot perfectly on the Senators' third pairing and penalty kill.
Ryan Donato
The Senators have been connected to Donato, and it makes a lot of sense. It is no secret that they could use more secondary scoring in their bottom six, and Donato provides just that. In 55 games this season with the Chicago Blackhawks, he has set new career highs with 19 goals, 19 assists, and 38 points. Adding this kind of offense production would be huge for the Sens.
Brandon Tanev
Tanev is another player who would make a lot of sense for the Senators. While he would not give the Senators as much offense as a player like Donato, he would give their bottom six more grit, which is always important for teams to have during the playoffs. He also offers experience, which would benefit the Senators to have.
