NHL Rumors: 3 Trade Targets For The Washington Capitals
It has been an incredible season for the Washington Capitals. At the time of this writing, they have a 38-11-8 record and have the most points in the Eastern Conference standings. Due to this, they will be clear buyers at the trade deadline as they look to win another Stanley Cup during the Alex Ovechkin era.
Let's go over three potential trade targets for the Capitals now.
Brock Nelson
The Capitals have been looking to improve down the middle, and Nelson would be a major addition to their group because of it. The skilled forward has created a lot of chatter in the rumor mill with the New York Islanders not holding a playoff spot as the deadline gets closer. If the Capitals added Nelson, he would form a strong trio with Dylan Strome and Pierre Luc-Dubois down the middle for the Metropolitan Division club.
Jake Evans
Evans is another center who could certainly get the attention of the Capitals. One of their top goals is to improve at the 3C spot, and acquiring Evans would allow them to do just that. In 57 games this season with the Montreal Canadiens, he has 11 goals, 27 points, and a plus-2 rating. He also has value because of solid defensive play and ability to kill penalties.
Trent Frederic
The Capitals could use some help on the wing in their bottom six, so Frederic could also make sense for them. The expectation is that the Boston Bruins are willing to move the pending unrestricted free agent, and he could be a strong addition to the Caps' third or fourth line. He would provide them with plenty more bite when the games get tougher in the post-season.
