NHLTR Mock Trade: Blues deal Brayden Schenn to Senators

Our latest NHLTR Mock Trade segment brings in one of the biggest, and perhaps most surprising names making rounds among trade rumors, Brayden Schenn of the St. Louis Blues.

Blues GM Doug Armstrong is listening to trade offers on his captain, and is open to seeing what the market looks like on the 33-year-old center. Schenn has a full no-trade clause, which interestingly enough changes to just a 15-team no-trade list come July. It's going to be interesting seeing how Armstrong handles this, but if he's moving Schenn before the 2025 NHL Trade Deadline March 7, here's one deal to consider.

NHLTR Mock Trade: Blues trade Schenn to the Ottawa Senators for Shane Pinto, Jacob Bernard-Docker, 2025 first-round pick, 2026 third-round pick.

Armstrong wants a 'significant' trade package in return for Schenn, as reports suggest, so three pieces minimum, and frankly, this might not even be enough. Josh Norris instead of Pinto? Perhaps, it's just Pinto is only making $3.75 million AAV against the cap, as appose to Norris, who earns $7.95 million AAV through the 2029-30 season. One of them is leaving Ottawa if Schenn shows up with his bags. As far as trade approval goes, Ottawa feels like a destination where Schenn is willing to go, as his style of play meshes perfectly with captain Brady Tkachuk, who has massive ties to St. Louis himself. Keep an eye on these two teams, if the Blues get serious about changing the makeup of their roster, the Senators are going to be ready to pounce with a big offer.
