NHLTR Mock Trade: Bruins trade Brad Marchand to Avalanche in multi-player deal

Brad Marchand is a pending unrestricted free agent, and there's growing speculation that if the Boston Bruins slide down the standings over the course of February, GM Don Sweeney could entertain trade offers. Surprisingly, Marchand only has a eight-team no-trade clause, and with his cap hit $6.1 million, a long list of teams could find the finances to construct a deal.

Insert the Colorado Avalanche. GM Chris MacFarland shocked the league by moving Mikko Rantanen, and the Avs' executive could have another blockbuster up his sleeve. Here's our latest Mock Trade with just over a month before deadline day:

Avalanche acquire Marchand from Bruins for Casey Mittelstadt, Calum Ritchie, and a 2025 second-round pick

The Bruins would land a couple of core pieces in Mittelstadt, who is locked in for a couple more seasons, and one of the Avs best prospects in Ritchie, who will be NHL ready next season. They also get a second-rounder, which could be a solid piece moving forward. There's also a legit shot at Marchand re-signing in Boston this summer.

Colorado gets a playoff warrior in Marchand, someone they can pair with close friend Nathan MacKinnon, and immediately insert on to their top line. They get out of Mittelstadt's $5.75 million for two more seasons, and can reset themselves if Marchand walks in the offseason.
